Following an afternoon stroll in picturesque Steyr, as evening descends, you will climb up the 240 steps up to the church tower. There a night watchman, dressed in historic costume and equipped with a lantern, will hand you a well-deserved aperitif. After taking in the impressive views over Steyr and beyond, your next stop will be the Steyr Kripperl, Europe’s last medieval stick puppet theater housed in the splendid Innerberger Stadl. There you will watch a performance re-enacting the life of medieval craftsmen. Afterwards you will enjoy some starters; the soup will be dished up in the idyllic Dunkelhof, a 16th-century arcade courtyard. And finally, your taste buds will be in for the main dish served in the rustic wine cellar of the Landhotel which also provides a unique setting to end your dine-around experience in a relaxed atmosphere. After arriving at the Landhotel Birkenhof, you will stroll to Burgenland’s largest sparkling wine producer to get a fascinating glimpse of the art of sparkling wine making. And of course you will have the chance to indulge in some tasting and snacks. For lunch, you will return to the Landhotel Birkenhof. The afternoon excursion will take you to a Gols stellar wine estate and includes a tour of the cellars, with time to enjoy a good glass of wine and a chance to talk to the owner. You will spend the evening at a traditional Heurigen, a rustic-style wine tavern, and feast on hearty snacks washed down with a glass of local wine in an informal and relaxed atmosphere. Fun tractor ride through the Styrian "Apple Country"
The area around Pöllau is well-known for its delicious apples. Explore the Styrian 'Apple Street' and find out for yourself during a fun tractor ride through the Apple Country how important apples are in the culinary tradition of this region. You can also attend some of the many events. Don't miss the apple blossom in spring.
Another highlight of Styria is the region south of its capital, known as the Styrian Toscana, as the landscape really does look something like the Italian region of Tuscany. Located on the border with Slovenia, the southern Styrian countryside is a blend of crescent hills, tall singular poplar trees, the occasional farmhouse, and vineyards one after the other. Enjoy the view over a glass of fruitful Styrian white wine after the fun ride. Afterwards there is the possiblity to visit a pumpkin seed oil mill before you visit a distillery (free tasting included). In the evening indulge in a Styrian specialty buffet at the hotel and enjoy the live music.
